Benguerra Island in Mozambique is the second-largest island in the Bazaruto Archipelago. The island covers approximately 55 km² (11 km long by 5.5 km wide) and is located 14 km off the coast. Benguerra Island features forests, savannas, freshwater lakes, and wetlands, creating a diverse ecosystem that supports a wide variety of flora and fauna. Freshwater crocodiles can be found in all three lakes on the island. Home to around 140 bird species, Benguerra Island was declared a national park in 1971.

Machangulo

Machangulo Peninsula, located in the southernmost part of Mozambique, lies next to Inhaca Island, across from Maputo Bay. The peninsula, which stretches for 40 km and features pristine white sand beaches and dunes, was once part of the Maputo Elephant Reserve.
