NATIONAL PARK

Amboseli National Park

Nestled in southern Kenya along the Tanzanian border, Amboseli National Park is a breathtaking expanse of wetlands, spanning 392 square kilometers at an elevation of 1,129 meters above sea level. Established in 1974, this tropical paradise boasts a monsoon climate with an average annual temperature of 27°C. October marks the warmest month at 30°C, while May is the coolest at 24°C.

Amboseli is home to the “Magnificent 7”—lion, African buffalo, elephant, rhinoceros, leopard, cheetah, and wild dog—alongside a myriad of other species and over 400 bird species. The park offers world-class walking safaris with Maasai guides, immersing you in its pristine wilderness. To make your experience truly extraordinary, Safari Collection has handpicked the best lodges and camps in the region for optimal comfort and proximity to wildlife.

Angama Amboseli

The elegant Angama Amboseli is located in the 5,700-hectare Kimana Sanctuary, a conservancy owned by 884 Maasai families. This stunning lodge features ten beautifully designed suites, each inspired by elephants, with natural and black tones throughout. Every suite is perfectly positioned to provide awe-inspiring views of the legendary Mount Kilimanjaro, affectionately called “Kili” by locals.

The lodge’s exquisitely designed lounge includes a fireplace, dining area, art gallery, photo studio, children’s playroom, infinity pool, and a 360-degree observation deck overlooking the savannah. Safari activities at Angama Amboseli include guided walking safaris and jeep excursions, with ample opportunities to spot elephants, lions, cheetahs, hippos, and countless bird species in the sanctuary’s wetlands.

National Park

Masai Mara National Park

Located in southwestern Kenya, 270 kilometers from Nairobi, Masai Mara National Park spans 1,510 square kilometers. While not the largest reserve in Kenya, it is undoubtedly the most iconic. Named after the Maasai people and the Mara River that runs through the park, Masai Mara borders the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania to the south.

Known for its remarkable lion population and the annual Great Migration, this park hosts nearly a million wildebeest that cross into its territory between July and September. Masai Mara is home to the “Big 5”—elephant, African buffalo, lion, leopard, and the critically endangered black rhinoceros—as well as giraffes, gazelles, baboons, and over 450 bird species. Walking safaris with Maasai guides add an intimate touch to the experience, while the lodges provide diverse safari options.

&Beyond Bateleur Camp

Set in a private concession in southwestern Masai Mara, &Beyond Bateleur Camp offers an exclusive safari experience with abundant wildlife and fewer crowds. The camp consists of two intimate tented villages, each with nine luxury tented suites. These 18 suites, along with the reception and lounge areas, exude vintage elegance with leather armchairs, black-and-white photography, Maasai spears, and antiques. Inspired by Out of Africa, this camp radiates old-world charm.

Each suite features a private butler who also serves as a personal concierge. The suites include a furnished veranda overlooking the savannah, where zebras, giraffes, elephants, and antelopes roam. Guests can enjoy an infinity pool, a well-stocked gin bar, a safari shop, a spa, and a gym. Gourmet meals are served under the stars, by the fire, or in the elegantly appointed dining area. Nearby, specially prepared vantage points offer prime views of the Great Migration.

Accommodation Facts

Number of Rooms/Suites: 18 suites
Distance from Airport: 30-minute drive from Kitchwa Tembo airstrip

Perched dramatically on the edge of the Great Rift Valley, Angama Mara is a masterpiece of architectural brilliance and breathtaking natural beauty. Designed by the acclaimed architectural duo Silvio Rech and Lesley Carstens (with Jan Allan), this lodge features 30 luxurious tented suites, 15 in the North Camp and 15 in the South Camp.

Each suite is suspended over the escarpment with ten-meter-wide glass facades offering uninterrupted, jaw-dropping views of Masai Mara. Whether relaxing on the plush bed, lounging on the sofa, or soaking in the bathtub, guests are treated to vistas that seem to stretch endlessly. The interiors are elegantly modern with vibrant Maasai-inspired accents. On the expansive veranda, you can savor a drink while soaking in the unparalleled scenery.

Angama Mara also offers exceptional dining experiences with dishes crafted from the freshest, finest ingredients. In addition to jeep safaris, guests can enjoy walking safaris and hot air balloon rides. Fun fact: many scenes from Out of Africa were filmed in the area surrounding Angama Mara.

The four tastefully designed tents feature expansive windows to maximize light and offer stunning views of the savannah. Each suite is equipped with a spacious double bed, elegant Maasai-inspired furniture, en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers, and a private deck with red rocking chairs for enjoying the scenery. The central tented lounge is perfect for dining, socializing, or relaxing around the inviting campfire. Guests also have access to a photo studio for preserving their safari memories.

In addition to jeep safaris, Angama Safari Camp offers walking safaris and hot air balloon rides. With just a thin canvas wall separating you from Masai Mara’s abundant wildlife, this camp provides an unrivaled, immersive experience.

The luxurious Mara Plains Camp is situated in Olare Motorogi Conservancy, in the northern part of the legendary Masai Mara. This exclusive region is celebrated for its incredible abundance of apex predators—lion, leopard, and cheetah dominate the landscapes, offering thrilling wildlife encounters unlike anywhere else. With only seven octagonal tented suites, Mara Plains Camp is one of the most intimate and exclusive camps in the Masai Mara, promising a personalized and unforgettable experience.

Each suite is a masterpiece, uniquely designed and styled with a harmonious blend of African and Arabian aesthetics. Natural materials such as copper and leather complement the decor, which captures the essence of classic safari elegance and transports you to a golden era of exploration. The tented suites feature draped canvas walls that can be fully opened, seamlessly connecting your spacious private veranda to the untamed savanna. To elevate your experience, each suite is equipped with a high-quality pair of binoculars and a professional camera, allowing you to immerse yourself fully in the wonders of the wild.
